The MAZI Project on BBC Morning Live Community Champion

We’re super excited to finally be able to announce that our founder, Melanie and The MAZI Project have been shortlisted in the top 3 for BBC Food and Farming Morning Live Community Champion award!! 💫

We had Matt Allwright come to our community kitchen to learn more about the work we do to nourish marginalised young people’s potential.

Did you know that obesity costs the UK £98 billion a year!! That is nearly 4% of UK GDP! And according to the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) for England, 2020/21 school year found children living in the most deprived areas were more than twice as likely to be obese than those living in the least deprived areas.

At The MAZI Project we are adamant about buying all of our ingredients from local suppliers and small scale producers because we believe EVERYONE should have EQUAL access to high quality, healthy and sustainable ingredients. We want to tackle food insecurity from the root and build a more localised and sustainable food system.

This does come at a cost. Each of our meal kits include 3 recipes each serving 2 portions.

💥 Each box costs £16 (not including our core costs) and we deliver between 90 – 95 boxes every week.

💥 That means we spend £1520 every week.

💥 That’s £6080 every month!

to ensure that young people who would often be going hungry or eating ultra processed foods have the CHOICE and access to a selection of tasty and seasonal recipes!!

It’s expensive but the system is not there to support this community who are in need of love. So, could I ask you to be there for them today?

Donate here and I ask for 20 minutes of your time to discuss how we can join forces to make sure every young person feels love through food!
